 Matt and T.K. run into Pumpkinmon and Gatsumon, two of Myotismon's henchmen. But these two don't want to hurt the Digidestined, they just want to have fun. In fact, they want to be friends.
The quirky foursome spend an ecclectic night of enjoying the city and getting into trouble until Myotismon appears and orders Pumpkinmon and Gatsumon to capture Matt and T.K. They refuse to hurt their new friends and give their lives to save them.
Angered by Myotismon's brutality, Matt and WereGarurmon battle Myotismon, joined in by Angemon. While the two cannot defeat Myotismon, they manage to turn him away.

 Gatomon is still looking over Kari, wondering what it is that binds the two of them. Wizardmon appears to comfort his friend, and helps her realize that Kari is the 8th Digidestined, and that she is Kari's Digimon.
They convince Tai and Agumon that this is true and decide to invade Myotismon's lair to retrieve the true Crest of Light. However, the mission goes awry and Greymon and Wizardmon are hurt while Gatmon is captured. Fortunately, Myotismon still doesn't know that Kari is the 8th Digidestined.

 Myotismon begins his siege. Armies of Bakemon and other evil Digimon begin to capture innocent people. Izzy saves his family by creating an anti-Digimon field, but it isn't enough to save everyone else.
Mimi and Sora are captured by Myotismon's men but break free. Palmon manages to digivolve into Lilymon but must battle Myotismon.

 Lilymon is defeated by Myotismon, who puts her under a spell. Sora's mother makes a desperate sacrifice so that Sora and Birdramon can flee and get help.
Meanwhile Ikkakumon carries T.K. and Joe who are trying to get into the city. They run into MetalSeadramon, but Ikkaumon digivolves into Zudomon and stomps the serpent back to the Digital World. They pick up an unexpected guest, Wizardmon, who tells them what's been going on so far.
But it's too late for Kari, who's been captured by Myotismon henchmen.
